Message from the Assistant Principal

Mr. Paterson's Background

Zela Davis School welcomes back John Paterson as its new Assistant Principal. Before his current position at Zela Davis, Mr. Paterson served the Hawthorne School District as a teacher on special assignment, for three years, as District Math Coach. John began his career with the Hawthorne School District in 2004, as a 4th grade teacher at Zela Davis Elementary. 

John earned a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from California State University Dominguez Hills, with honors in his major: mathematics. Then he completed master’s degree coursework, at Pepperdine University, in the field of educational technology. He attended California State University at Long Beach for administrative credentials. As an administrator, John Paterson promotes the success of all students by maintaining a safe learning environment, where students can maximize their potential as members in a community of lifelong learners. Mr. Paterson is determined for all students to positively contribute to our advancing global society.
